Alexia Seretidou (b. 1981, Komotini, Greece) is a
visual artist based in Ierapetra, Crete. Originally
trained in Electronic Engineering at the Technical
University of Crete, she later developed an indepen-
dent, self-directed artistic practice that bridges photo-
graphy with handcrafted processes.
Working with paper constructions, architectural
maquettes, handmade paper, watercolor, cyanotype,
printmaking, and bookbinding, Seretidou approaches
photography beyond the camera – as imprint,
surface, archive, and act of reconstruction.
She frequently incorporates archival black-and-
white photographs into her work, drawing from early
photographic traditions of hand-coloring and mate-
rial intervention. Through slow, tactile methods, she
explores memory, transformation, and the instability
of visual narratives.
Since 2006, she has been living and working in Ierape-
tra, where she is a Computer Science teacher in public
vocational education. She has been a member of the
Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece (Decorative Arts
Section) since 2021.
Her work has been presented in seven solo exhibiti-
ons (2017–2026) and in numerous group exhibitions
in Athens and Crete, including presentations at the
Athens Municipal Gallery, the Dimitris Mytaras Gallery
in Chalkida, the former Public Tobacco Factory in
Athens, and the Basilica of Saint Mark in Heraklion.
